Hi Chris, how are you today?

 I’m doing great. I’m so excited about this interview. I haven’t done many. And I know I’ve owed you this one for a long long time. So hopefully I’ll make up for it.

Tell us a little about yourself? 

Well, I’m 36 years old, married with four kids, and I love to write horror, fantasy, action, dystopian…and all with an erotic twist. I’m a very sexual person and I love knowing that I’m turning people on with my stories. The thought that someone might masturbate or wake up their sleeping spouse to get a quickie in just because my story got their gears turning is awesome.

What is your favourite movie? 

I tend to always go back to Braveheart with this one. I think that’s just a flawless movie. But I’m a big horror movie buff too and my favorite horror movie is Halloween, the original and part 4. Oh and the latest movie I love that seriously almost made me cry was Warrior with Nick Nolte and Tom Hardy. Awesome movie. If you haven’t seen it, you need to, even if you don’t think you’d like it because of the premise.

What is your favourite colour?

 I guess it really depends on what we’re talking about. I like blue cars, red panties on a woman, and honey brown eyes.

What star sign are you?  

Aries baby!

Are you a action, horror or Romance movie type
 of man? 

I love horror movies. But I’m starting to like anything with a unique coolness to it. I loved the first Sin City movie. I was just discussing this with someone earlier today. I used to be able to sit through any movie. I’d never stop a movie. I think as I’m getting older (and I’m not old) I’m just realizing that I don’t want to force myself to waste time on something I don’t enjoy. It’s the same with books. If the first few pages don’t catch my attention I have to move on to something else.

What is your ring tone on your phone? 

Ha, you’re not gonna believe this but I actually searched for and was so excited to find the ring tone from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney. You know the one. “Yo ho! Yo ho! A pirate’s life for me!” That’s my ringtone.

What do your family think about you writing and have they read any of your work? 

 Only my wife has read my stuff and she loves it, especially the Maybe Mandy series and diary entries. She calls me her Carrie Bradshaw, lol.

Are you any good in the kitchen and what is your specialty? 

 I’m pretty good in the kitchen. My kids love my food. Most of my cooking involves pasta. I guess that’s the little Italian in me. I love making chicken Parmesan, baked ziti, and spaghetti. I make a mean tuna casserole (I know a lot of you are cringing with that one but I’m telling you it’s good). And I make some kickass boxed brownies, lol.

What is your favourite food?

  I love Italian and Mexican food. I’m going to say chicken enchiladas. I love chicken enchiladas when it’s done right.

What is the most  romantic thing you have
 done for a girl? 

Wow, that’s a tough one. I wish I could say I’m really romantic but I tend to have awesome ideas that I don’t act on quickly enough. This is going to sound lame but probably the most romantic thing I do is every once in a while, at very random times, I’ll stop by the store and buy like a birthday gift bag and just load it up with all the little things my wife likes. Maybe a Bath & Body Works lotion, her favorite chocolates, makeup, and other little things. Then I’ll write something on a card and just surprise her with it. I know, lame.

What's the kinkiest thing you have done?

 Kinkiest thing. Ha, this isn't’ kinky but it definitely shows my quirky side. One day when my wife was in a shitty mood. I don’t remember why, probably something I said or did, lol. I’d just gotten out of the shower, so I locked the bedroom door, dropped the towel, and looked and her and said, “You know what you need?”

She was like, “No, what?”

I climbed naked up onto the bed and said, “Balls on your leg.”

Then I rested my balls on her leg and she busted out laughing. She started squealing like, “Get ‘em off me!”

So now whenever she’s in a pissy mood I walk into the room and all I have to say is, “You know what you need?”

And she’ll scream, “No, I don’t want balls on my leg!”

There is a lot of BDSM books out now have you ever read any ? 

I’ve read Ava Bell’s first book C/curious and I just picked up Judith Anderson’s Pretty When You Cry. Ava’s book was great. I didn’t know anything about the BDSM world so her book was an awesome introduction. I really felt for her character and what she was going through starting off on her journey into BDSM. I’ve heard great things about Judith’s book but haven’t started it…yet.

Have you ever entered in to the BDSM world for book research or personal reasons?

 No, I haven’t. I think I’d love to watch some of that going on. I think that would probably be a turn on but I don’t see myself ever trying it.

If you were allowed one sex toy for rest of your sexual adventures which would it be  and why?

Hmm, I’ve never really used anything on myself so I’m not going to be selfish here. I’ll say a vibrator for my wife that way she can take care of herself when I’m not around and I can use it on her when I am. I’ve bought her one in the past.

Do  you have any tattoos or body piercings and what are they?

 Yes, I have two tattoos. I have an arm band, not really tribal. Its more like barbed wire and wisps of black. On the other arm I have the symbol of my Chinese horoscope, the Ram character in red. I’d like to do more on my arms but I need to figure out some stuff that actually means something to me. I have no piercings.

What do you think of tattoos on women?

  I think it’s fucking hot. Really sexy.

Are the stories old ones you have saved or new? 

I’m not sure I understand this question. I think you mean the stories I’ve written? Darkness of Man, my first full length dark fantasy novel is one I’ve been working on for years. It’s gone from a screenplay to a graphic novel I was working on, to a dark fantasy novel with erotic elements.

Everything else is brand new. I wasn’t even writing erotica a year ago. My newest book, Just the Tip: The Erotic Poetry of C.C. Genovese is all completely fresh because I started writing the poems to go along with FB events I was doing. I like going into each event, takeover, with a poem that follows the theme. If Louise will let me, I’d love to share a poem at the end of this interview. But I have to warn you, my poems are really graphic.

What is your favourite  genre to write?

 I love horror and dark fantasy (with lots of action) so I’d say those but with some very graphic sex thrown in. And I love writing my erotic novellas.

Which one of you're books was your  favorite  to write?

 Mandy is my favorite. She’s got such an awesome attitude. I feel like we’re going steady. Kinky Carnival Games and Margaritas by Moonlight are my first two Maybe Mandy books and I’m working on book 3 now. I think I’ll eventually do a full-lengthy Mandy book.

When and why did you begin writing?

 I started writing at about the age of 16. I’d just learned to type without looking at the keys and I loved it for some reason. I’m such a dork, but I played football in high school, and even on the way to games I’d pretend I was typing on the back of the seat in front of me.

During a trip to Oklahoma to see my grandfather, I was kind of lazy one day and didn’t feel like joining my dad and little brother out on the lake for fishing. I was bored in Grandpa’s house until I found an old-fashioned typewriter covered up with a blanket. I sat down and started working on my first book.

When I returned to school, I started passing the story around to all the girls in my classes. I’d hand write it in notebooks and they were all really into it. The story was so cheesy. I wish I was writing erotica back then. I probably would’ve lost my virginity sooner, lol.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? 

That’s always been a struggle. It’s like I didn’t feel worthy of calling myself a writer until I started writing erotica and started interacting with fans. Just the thought that I have fans makes me all giddy. It’s so fucking awesome. Now that people are actually reading my work and asking for more makes me feel that I’m actually decent at this and deserve to be called a writer.

Also, two ladies who’ve been so important to me in this journey (other than my wife, I love you, honey!!!) are my PA, Natalie Rhodes and Denise Williams.

Natalie has been such a great friend and always pushes me to do the right thing. Even when I’m in a bad mood and acting like an ass, she’s there by my side and she may never know how much I need her and how much she means to me. She’s believed in me even when I wasn’t sure I was good enough. She’s amazing.

Denise, who’s my Admin and manages my fanclub, is also so fucking cool. She helps keep me in line. I like to take risks and she always reminds me to be careful. She’s been an awesome friend and is always there to offer words of encouragement. Even when her life demands so much, she’s there for me, and I really appreciate it.

What inspired you to write your first book?

 Probably The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I was a young teenager going through some really rough times in a bad part of town when my teacher introduced me to that book. It made me realize that books can be cool and characters can be real. Plus, since I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the setting of the book, I think it just kind of spoke to me.

Do you have a specific writing style? 

I write with a lot of dialogue and try to keep the text short, not too heavy. I started out writing screenplays so I think my writing style is very cinemascope. I want you to see what’s going on when you read my stuff, but without getting too heavy with description.

Who was the easiest character to write for and why and  hardest and why? 


The easiest has been Mandy. We just click. She’s sexy, sassy, and honest. It’s refreshing. And the hardest would probably be Gabe in Darkness of Man. His alter ego, Cutter, is one of my favorite characters. He’s just a mean, badass, raw, psychotic dude so making his plain, average Joe version, Gabe, interesting was kind of a challenge. But I think it worked out in the end.


which lead character is your personal  favourite and why?  

Oops I think I just answered that question. Mandy because she’s so fun to write. She cracks me up. And she’s really hot. I’d totally fuck her.

If you could pick one of your books to be made into a movie which one would you choose and why? 

Oh man, I’d love to see Darkness of Man as a movie. A friend of mine who directs music videos wanted to work on it and I wouldn’t let him. If that’s going to be made into a movie it needs to be done right and would require a lot of special effects. I think the Mandy series would make an awesome TV show.

Who would you cast for the movie ? 

 I’ve been trying to figure that one out for a long time. Can I open that one up to the readers? Mandy is a brunette who’s slightly curvy. Who would be a perfect Mandy?

What was your favorite book as a child? 

 I went through stages. I loved Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. Then I loved Judy Blume’s Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Then I loved Encyclopedia Brown. Then Christopher Pike.

How did you come up with the title?

 I have 8 books out right now. Darkness of Man has to do with our inner demons. It’s about a dark world on the other side of the mirror where our evil (or darker) doppelgangers live. So that title just fit.

Kinky Carnival Games, the first Maybe Mandy book, started out as a dare. A writer friend of mine liked my style and thought I’d be good at erotica. I didn’t think so. She dared me to try it and I jokingly said I was going to write a book about a girl who gets fucked on a ferris wheel. And that’s how Kinky Carnival Games came about

With Just the Tip, my collection of erotic poetry, I loved the play on words. It’s just the beginning…and…I just want to put the tip in please. Just the tip.



How much of the book is realistic? 

 All of my books are fiction but of course I throw some real experiences in there and tend to base some of the characters on real people. Online Erotica Group: My Orgy Cherry Popped is a fun book but very graphic. I got that idea from watching how Facebook friends were chatting with each other in some of the erotica groups.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? 

Some are. I’ve never had sex on a Ferris wheel but that would be awesome!

Have you ever binned a book when half way through thinking it wasn't  good enough?

  I haven’t done it lately but I threw away everything I wrote from my teenage years. I had a bunch of notebooks in a closet until just a few years ago. Then one day I just tossed them in the bin. They were all garbage anyway.

What books have most influenced your life most?




Of course I have to mention S.E. Hinton again. I know this is going to sound goofy but Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein are in that group too. The creation of fantastical worlds with all that rhyming silliness is just awesome. They taught me you can’t take yourself too seriously.

Stephen King’s On Writing has a lot of great information in it. King’s toolbox idea was important to me (still is) and has taught me that rather than trying to fluff up my stories with vocabulary I’m not comfortable with, I should just use the words in my toolbox to the best of my ability.

George R.R. Martin has taught me a lot about character development. His ability to make you love even the bad guys is truly amazing.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Oh man, I don’t know. A good friend of mine, who has also edited some of my books and is a writer herself, Lisanne Harrington has taught me a lot about writing.

What book are you reading now?

I just started Hung by Scott Hildreth and it’s awesome so far. I don’t usually read erotica but a friend, Tosha, gifted this one to me when I mentioned that it sounded cool and I loved the main character’s name, Biscuit.

I just finished a horror book called Bird Box which was really intense. I liked that one.

I wish I had more time to read. I love reading and I have author friends asking me to check out their stuff all the time. They read my stuff and I want to return the favor but with my family life, my day job work (I’m a teacher and have so many papers to grade), my writing, and time spent on social media and doing takeovers, I have no time to read. It sucks.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

 Yes, and there are so many to name. I know I’ll leave some out but David S. Scott, Damian Clark, Ava Bell, Bryce Calderwood, Ethan Radcliff, Judith Anderson, Sadie Bissett, Debbie Zello, Cara Addison, Thia Finn, CJ Wells, and Alexandria Sure for sure (sure for sure, ha, I didn’t even do that on purpose). Not only are these people great writers but they’re so cool and down to earth. In an online world where some authors can be douchebags and mad drama starters, some of us are actually connecting and I think that’s really cool. Burt Maverick, who likes to say he writes the porn, is a great example of an author who’s doing really well but still finds time to reply to and even give advice to a newer writer. That’s pretty damn cool in my book.

What are your current projects?

A few minutes ago I was working on a really cool project that I’m excited about. I’ve been using Erotic Mayberry as a publishing name for my books and as my fanclub name and my website name. But what does Erotic Mayberry really mean? I’ve been using the slogan: A charming little down full of erotic secrets.

So I decided to finally write the first book in the Erotic Mayberry series about a detective trying to find out more about this private community full of kinky residents. It’s going to be nuts. And, yes, I already got rock hard writing it so I think it’s going great.

Other than that, I’m juggling several other projects. I’m working on Daughters of Venus 2, Maybe Mandy 3, my erotic horror with clowns, and my take on an erotic bedtime story (a Red Riding Hood story).

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

 I’ve always liked writing in some form. When I was a kid and listened to rap music and r&b I used to write my own song lyrics.

My first real attempt at writing a story was when a teacher in middle school asked us to write our own myth. I don’t remember much about mine but I remember thinking that it was pretty good and I liked writing.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

 Writing with a hard on is a pain. Seriously. I have to make frequent pit stops to relieve myself. That’s challenging.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

 Right now I think I’d have to say George R. R. Martin. He is so awesome with character development. You love and hate the good guys and the bad guys. That’s talent.

Who designed the covers? 

My friend Autumn Knight designed the Darkness of Man cover and the sequel’s cover which I hope to have out soon. She also did the Maybe Mandy covers. She fucking rocks. My friend Andres has helped with some of my covers. Most of mine are just slightly tweaked stock photos. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford some of the big cover models for my books.

What was the hardest part of writing your book? 

Trying to stay focused on one story. I tend to juggle lots of stories. When a new idea comes along I let that fire burn. I don’t want to cap it. So I switch to the new story, write all that I can, then come back to the other work in progress.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

 Just write. I’m not going to say grammar isn’t important. It is. But it’s not everything and grammar can be fixed. There are some grammatical wizards out there who can’t write worth a damn. The grammar Nazis you see on websites slamming authors, most of them haven’t written a book and those who have haven’t established a serious fan base. Don’t get me wrong, some have, but the majority are just out there to nitpick and fuck with authors.

My point is, don’t let your fear of what you don’t know stop you from putting out a great story. Shakespeare is known as one of the greatest writers of all time and he made up half the words he used. They didn’t even exist. You know who made the decision about grammar and punctuation back then? The guys putting the plays to print. They’d restructure sentences just to make them fit on the page.

So just write! Carry around a notebook. I always have a small spiral notebook and a pen. If I’m waiting at the doctor’s office, in line at the bank, waiting for my wife to get her hair done, or even if I just get a great idea while strolling through the supermarket aisles, I whip that sucker out start writing. Writers write.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? 

I’m not going to stop. I’m in this for the long run. Be patient with me and please keep reading. And if you interact with me or comment on my threads and stuff on FB and I don’t reply (or if I just click like) please understand that it’s not that I don’t want to reply to you, it’s just that I can’t keep up.

I really can’t. I’m trying. My PA has offered to help with that kind of stuff but I’d like to keep it personal. I want to be able to read and reply whenever I can. It’s important to me. But please don’t ever think I’m not into what you’re saying or appreciative of the fact that you have a million other places to spend your free time and you’ve chosen to spend it commenting on my stuff.

Do you have any funny quirks or stories you would like to tell us about yourself?

 Oh wow, I have a lot of quirky stories. I think. I’m a strange bird sometimes. I’m a grown man with a mind like a child sometimes. I tend to think the dumbest thoughts sometimes. Like…when I’m at the grocery store and I go to pick up a bunch of bananas and one of them is kind of black or ugly, I feel kind of bad leaving that one behind. Like he might miss his friends or feel like he wasn’t wanted. Ha. See, I’m kind of crazy sometimes.

And I’ve said this before but I like to race the toilet. I always flush before I’m finished peeing and then try to finish before the toilet does. It drives my wife nuts. Cause I always lose and have to re-flush the toilet. I know…I know…it’s a waste of water.

What do you like to do to keep fit? 

I used to love taking MMA classes. I love martial arts. I’m lazy now. I like to take the kids to the park and usually while they’re playing I’ll just walk around. I have three herniated discs in my back so I have to be careful with what I do.

What do you like to do when your not busy working and writing? 

I hang out with my family. I love watching movies with them and kicking their asses in PlayStation games.

Are you a car or motorbike kind of guy?

 I wish I were a motorbike guy. I’ve never ridden one though. I’d love to learn how.

Where do you see you self in ten years time?

 Man…I hope I’m a well-known, successful author and by successful I just mean that I’m able to support my family with just my writing. I’d love to have my own writing cave with cool movie posters up everywhere, movie scores blasting as I write, and plenty of free time to spend with family. That’s what I want. No more day job. Just writing. I’ve always said that I’ll know I’ve made it when I’m sitting across from Ellen Degeneres, on her show, and she’s telling me how much my books have turned her on. That’s when I’ve made it.
